Setting Up Auto Clear

Keep channels clean — on your schedule.

Auto Clear lets Mochi automatically remove messages from a channel at a specific time or on a repeating schedule. It’s ideal for keeping temporary channels tidy, clearing old messages, or resetting spaces without manual cleanup.

Think of Auto Clear as a scheduled cleanup task — predictable, quiet, and fully under your control.

What Auto Clear Is Used For

Auto Clear works best in channels where messages are short-lived or purpose-specific, such as:

  • Bot or command channels

  • Event or drop channels

  • Temporary discussion threads

  • Media-only or showcase channels

  • Announcement channels that need periodic resets

Instead of deleting messages manually, you tell Mochi when, where, and how much to clear.

🪄 How to Set Up Auto Clear

Auto Clear jobs are created from the Dashboard.

1

Click New Reminder to create a new Auto Clear task.

2

Name the auto-clear task

Name Give your Auto Clear job a recognizable name.

Examples:

  • Clear bot spam

This name is only for your reference.

3

Select the Channel

Mochi will only affect this selected channel.

4

Configure Filters

This allows you to protect specific message types if needed.

5

Set Message Amount

Message Amount Define the maximum number of messages Mochi should delete per run.

  • Set a number to limit deletion

  • Leave at 0 to remove messages without a hard cap

This gives you fine control over how aggressive the cleanup is.

6

Choose What Gets Cleared

You can toggle between:

  • All Messages — clears everything in scope

  • Ignore Bot Messages — leaves bot messages untouched

This is useful for keeping system messages or embeds intact while removing user chatter.

7

Set Time Options

This controls when Auto Clear runs.

Date Choose the start date and time for the cleanup.

Frequency Decide how often the job runs:

  • Once — a single cleanup at the chosen time

  • Hours — repeats every set number of hours

  • Days — repeats daily

  • Weeks — repeats weekly

  • Months — repeats monthly

This makes Auto Clear suitable for both one-time resets and long-term maintenance.

8

Save the Task

Click Save, and your Auto Clear task is now active.

Mochi will handle cleanup automatically according to your schedule.

✨ Why Auto Clear Matters

Auto Clear helps you:

  • Keep channels readable

  • Reduce moderator workload

  • Maintain structure without constant oversight

  • Prevent clutter from building up over time

When used thoughtfully, it keeps your server feeling fresh without anyone noticing the cleanup happening.

🌱 Best Practices

  • Use Auto Clear in purpose-driven channels only

  • Avoid using it in general chat spaces

  • Start with longer intervals and adjust if needed

  • Pair it with clear channel descriptions so members know what to expect

Auto Clear should feel invisible — quietly doing its job in the background.
