Crafting Items

Design rewards that feel meaningful, flexible, and fun.

Mochi Stores don’t just sell “items” — they offer different kinds of rewards, each with its own behavior, lifespan, and purpose.

Understanding item types helps you design a store that feels balanced, engaging, and intentional — whether you’re rewarding loyalty, encouraging activity, or unlocking special perks.

This section introduces the core item categories you can create and how they’re commonly used.

Core Item Types in Mochi

Mochi currently supports several powerful item types. Each one serves a different role in your economy.

1

Cosmetics

Roles you can earn, unlock, or buy.

Role items grant members Discord roles when purchased or used. These roles can unlock:

  • Unique colors

  • Special channels

  • Extra permissions

  • Visual status or identity

2

Consumables

Items that get used up.

Consumables are items that disappear after use. They’re perfect for temporary effects, boosts, or one-time advantages.

Once consumed, the item is removed from the member’s inventory. There are two kinds of consumables:

1. 🪙 Currency Boosters

  • Currency boosters increase how much currency a member earns for a set duration — minutes, hours, or even days.

  • Once the boost expires, earning rates return to normal — but members can always buy another.

2. XP Boosters

  • Level up faster, for a limited time.

  • XP boosters temporarily increase how fast members gain experience or levels.

  • Like currency boosters, XP boosters expire automatically and don’t stack permanently.

Why Item Types Matter

Choosing the right item type helps you:

  • Control balance and inflation

  • Create meaningful progression

  • Design short-term excitement and long-term goals

  • Encourage repeat purchases

  • Avoid “set-and-forget” economies

Permanent items build identity. Consumables drive activity. Boosters create momentum.

A good store uses all three.
