Getting Started with QOTD

Set it once, then let Mochi spark conversation every day.

QOTD (Question of the Day) is designed to be simple: Mochi posts a daily question in a channel you choose, so your community always has an easy reason to talk.

This setup panel lets you control the vibe — when it posts, what it says, and which questions Mochi pulls from.

🪄 QOTD Setup (Step-by-Step)

1

Open the QOTD Setup Panel

In Discord, type:

/qotd setup

This opens the QOTD Setup panel where you can configure everything in one place.

2

Check Your Timezone

You’ll see a Timezone field (example: Asia/Tokyo).

This timezone controls when QOTD posts — and it’s taken from your server’s Mochi settings.

💡 Important: If you haven’t set your server timezone yet, go set it first. Your timezone affects all scheduled Mochi features, not just QOTD (alerts, reminders, events, and more).

3

Set the Posting Time

In the Time field, choose when Mochi should post the daily question (example: 06:00).

You’ll also see a helpful indicator like:

  • in 9 hours

That’s Mochi confirming the next scheduled post based on your timezone.

💡 Tip: Pick a time when your server is usually active (morning check-in, lunch break, evening wind-down, etc.).

4

Customize the Message

In the Message field, type the text Mochi should include with the question.

Example:

Time for another QOTD!

This message sets the tone — you can keep it cozy, funny, gentle, or energetic.

Examples you can use:

  • “Good morning! Here’s today’s question ✨”

  • “Quick check-in time 🌸”

  • “Let’s hear it, everyone 👀”

5

Choose the Channel

In Channel, select where QOTD should be posted.

Example:

  • #question-of-the-day

💡 Tip: A dedicated channel works best, because members learn the habit fast.

6

Choose Your Question Decks

In Decks, choose where Mochi pulls questions from:

  • Default Questions — Mochi’s built-in QOTD list

  • Custom Questions — only questions you add

  • Both — a mix of default + your custom prompts

This is the easiest way to control your server’s style:

  • Want quick setup? Use Default

  • Want full control? Use Custom

  • Want variety? Use Both

7

Save Your Setup

Once everything looks right, save your changes.

That’s it — Mochi will now post QOTD automatically based on your schedule.
