Setting up Discord Roles & Permissions for Mochi
Grant Mochi the right access, and she’ll handle the rest!
Before you dive into Mochi’s features, it helps to understand how Discord roles and permissions work — they’re what let Mochi do her job smoothly and securely.
What Are Roles and Permissions?
Roles organize members into groups.
Permissions decide what each group can do: things like sending messages, managing channels, or controlling apps such as Mochi.
Think of roles as job titles, and permissions as the tools that come with them.
Setting Mochi’s Role: The Basics
You’ve got two options:
Use Mochi’s default app role — it already comes with what she needs.
Or create a custom role just for Mochi and give it the right permissions.
💡 Tip: Make sure Mochi’s role sits above any roles it needs to manage or interact with. This order (called role hierarchy) lets Mochi perform tasks without running into permission issues.
