Links Moderation
Keep conversations safe, clean, and on-topic.
Links can be useful — but they can also bring spam, scams, or unwanted content into your server. Links Moderation helps you stay in control by automatically detecting and responding to shared links.
This feature lets you decide which links are welcome, and which ones need moderation.
Note: Ban Actions
Automatic bans are currently not supported by Discord auto moderation. At this time, Discord does not allow auto moderation rules to directly ban members.
If this policy changes in the future, Mochi will be updated to support it where appropriate.
🌸 What Links Moderation Does
When enabled, Mochi watches for links shared in messages. If a link is detected, Mochi responds based on the options you choose.
You control:
How Mochi responds
Where links are allowed
Who can share them
Which links are always safe
⚙️ Anti-Links Options
Links moderation follows the same simple pattern as other auto moderation tools.
⏳ Timeout Member
Temporarily restricts a member from sending messages when unreadable text is detected.
You can choose how long the timeout lasts:
60 seconds
5 minutes
10 minutes
1 hour
1 day
1 week
This allows you to match the response to your server’s tone — from gentle reminders to stronger cooldowns.
💬 Custom Message
Send a friendly message explaining why the link wasn’t allowed.
Example:
“Links aren’t allowed here — please check the rules or ask a moderator 😊”
Clear messages help members understand expectations quickly.
🚨 Send Alert
When enabled, Mochi sends an alert whenever link moderation is triggered.
Turning this on unlocks:
📌 Logging Channel
Select the channel where link moderation alerts should be sent. This allows moderators to stay informed without actively monitoring every channel.
🚫 Ignored Channels
Choose channels where links moderation should not apply.
Useful for:
Resource-sharing channels
Media or content channels
Staff coordination spaces
Links posted in ignored channels will not trigger moderation.
🎭 Allowed Roles
Select roles that are allowed to post links freely.
Members with these roles can share links without triggering moderation. Helpful for:
Moderators and staff
Content creators
Verified contributors
✅ Whitelisted Links
Add specific links or domains that should always be allowed.
This is perfect for:
Your own website
Partner sites
Trusted platforms (e.g. YouTube, Twitch, GitHub)
Whitelisted links bypass moderation, even in restricted channels.
🌱 Best Practices
Whitelist links your community uses often
Use friendly custom messages
Enable alerts in public servers
Limit allowed roles carefully
Good link moderation keeps your server useful — without opening the door to spam.
✨ Why It Matters
Uncontrolled links can:
Distract conversations
Introduce spam or scams
Create safety risks
Links Moderation helps you protect your community while still allowing useful sharing — automatically and politely.
