Profanity Moderation

Keep conversations respectful and comfortable.

Every community has its own tone. Profanity Moderation helps you gently guide language in your server by responding when certain words appear — without interrupting normal conversation.

You decide what’s allowed, what’s filtered, and how Mochi responds.

Note: Ban Actions

Automatic bans are currently not supported by Discord auto moderation. At this time, Discord does not allow auto moderation rules to directly ban members.

If this policy changes in the future, Mochi will be updated to support it where appropriate.

Note: Timeout Availability

If Discord expands auto moderation capabilities in the future, this option will be added where possible.

🌸 What Profanity Moderation Does

When enabled, Mochi watches for messages containing blocked words. If a match is detected, Mochi responds based on the options you choose.

This allows you to:

  • Reduce offensive language

  • Keep chats welcoming

  • Set clear expectations without constant reminders

⚙️ Anti-Profanity Options

Profanity moderation follows the same simple structure as Mochi’s other auto moderation tools.

💬 Custom Message

Send a friendly message when a blocked word is detected.

Example:

“Let’s keep language friendly here — thanks for understanding 😊”

A clear message helps members adjust without embarrassment.

🚨 Send Alert

When enabled, Mochi sends an alert whenever profanity moderation is triggered.

Turning this on unlocks:

📌 Logging Channel

Select the channel where profanity alerts should be sent. This keeps moderators informed while keeping moderation calm and private.

🚫 Ignored Channels

Choose channels where profanity moderation should not apply.

Useful for:

  • Vent channels

  • Mature or roleplay spaces

  • Staff-only areas

Messages in ignored channels will not trigger profanity moderation.

🎭 Allowed Roles

Select roles that are exempt from profanity moderation.

Members with these roles can use filtered words without triggering moderation. Helpful for:

  • Moderators and staff

  • Approved roleplay roles

  • Trusted community members

✅ Whitelisted Words

Add words that should always be allowed, even if they might otherwise be filtered.

This is useful for:

  • Words with multiple meanings

  • In-jokes or slang

  • Community-specific language

Whitelisted words bypass moderation checks.

🌱 Best Practices

  • Keep your blocked list intentional

  • Use whitelists to avoid false positives

  • Be clear in your custom messages

  • Enable alerts if moderation context matters

  • Review logs occasionally to refine settings

Good profanity moderation sets boundaries without feeling restrictive.

✨ Why It Matters

Clear language guidelines help:

  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere

  • Reduce conflict

  • Support diverse audiences

  • Build trust in moderation

Profanity Moderation helps you guide tone gently — without constant intervention.
