Message Spam Moderation
Keep conversations flowing without repetition.
Message Spam Moderation helps prevent repeated or rapid messages that can flood a channel and drown out real conversation. It quietly steps in when someone sends the same message too many times in a short period.
This keeps chats readable, welcoming, and enjoyable, especially in busy servers.
Note: Ban Actions
Automatic bans are currently not supported by Discord auto moderation. At this time, Discord does not allow auto moderation rules to directly ban members.
If this policy changes in the future, Mochi will be updated to support it where appropriate.
Note: Timeout Availability
Timeout actions are not available for this rule. Due to limitations in Discord’s auto moderation system, timing out members is currently not supported for Anti Profanity and Anti Spam moderation.
If Discord expands auto moderation capabilities in the future, this option will be added where possible.
🌸 What Message Spam Moderation Does
When enabled, Mochi watches for repeated or rapidly duplicated messages. If spam is detected, Mochi responds based on the options you choose.
You control:
How Mochi responds
Where the rule applies
Who the rule applies to
⚙️ Anti-Spam Options
All spam moderation settings follow the same simple structure as other auto moderation tools.
💬 Custom Message
Send a friendly message explaining what happened. This helps members understand that repeating messages too quickly can disrupt the chat.
Example:
“Let’s slow things down a bit so everyone gets a turn to talk 😊”
🚨 Send Alert
When enabled, Mochi sends an alert whenever spam moderation is triggered.
Turning this on unlocks:
📌 Logging Channel
Select the channel where spam alerts should be sent. This keeps moderators informed without needing to watch every channel.
Alerts are helpful for visibility, not constant interruption.
🚫 Ignored Channels
Choose channels where spam moderation should not apply.
Useful for:
Bot or command channels
Game spam channels
Event or hype channels
Messages in ignored channels will not trigger spam moderation.
🎭 Allowed Roles
Select roles that are exempt from spam moderation.
Members with these roles can send repeated messages without triggering moderation. This is helpful for:
Moderators and staff
Event hosts
Bots or automation roles
🌱 Best Practices
Use friendly custom messages
Enable alerts if your server is very active
Exclude channels meant for rapid interaction
Review alerts occasionally to adjust settings
When tuned correctly, spam moderation keeps things tidy without feeling restrictive.
✨ Why It Matters
Message spam can overwhelm conversations quickly.
Spam Moderation helps:
Keep chats readable
Prevent flooding
Reduce moderator workload
Maintain a smooth flow of conversation
When it’s working well, conversations feel natural — not controlled.
